Little Engines

Here's a scene from my old HOn30 C & DR Ry. I love the size comparison between the narrow gauge engine and a rather small HO standard gauge engine. The little engine was a 0-4-0 converted to a Forney by adding a passenger truck under the tender. I still have the engine almost 50 years later and it still runs, but not very well compared to today's MiniTrainS.

  1. Many are the hours I've spent poring over your scenery books and articles on the C&DR, Dave. I fondly recall that Forney.

Speaking of old favorites, whatever became of the delightful Elk River Line railbus? For that matter, whatever became of that wonderful, characterful layout? Such an inspiration it was to a 14-year-old when I first encountered it in early 1977, thanks to the May 1970 issue of RMC I'd checked from the local library.
